Miami is changing every day and Downtown Miami is the perfect example of the multitude of urban projects and accomplishments that are currently taking shape, changing the urban and cultural landscapes of the cosmopolitan Sunshine State city. Miami-Dade commissioners approved David Beckham’s request for the creation of a privately funded Major League Soccer franchise in Miami, allowing for the future construction of a stadium. This stadium will most probably be located close to Downtown Miami, on the South West corner of the Port of Miami. If the location is confirmed, the stadium would be delivered with public space.
Of course, all these projects will increase traffic in the area and city officials as well as local entrepreneurs are considering alternative transportation solutions such as implementing DecoBike stations, just like the ones located in Miami Beach, will open in Downtown Miami this year, allowing people to ride bikes for free.
Perez Art Museum, or PAMM, opened its doors at the beginning of December, changing the way we look at Downtown Miami and Biscayne Bay. The 200,000 sf building’s architecture style is airy and light. It combines art and nature and offers breathtaking views on Biscayne Bay, the MacArthur Causeway and the Port of Miami. The permanent art collection of the museum is still fairly small but PAMM aims at developing it and attracting museum lovers from South Florida and elsewhere. Once the Frost Science Museum is built next year, the adjacent park will be completed, giving birth to Museum Park.
Loft at Ten Museum Park
When it comes to real estate, 1000 Museum, the ultra luxury residential tower designed by award-winning Zaha Hadid Architects, will showcase an aquatic center, a private helicopter landing area, as well as top-level residences and will be standing across the street from Museum Park. The project is approximately 35% sold and groundbreaking is planned for this summer.
Also, there is a building I really like, which is also located across the street from the Perez Art Museum; which is Ten Museum Park. It was built in 2007, has a Clinique La Prairie spa and provides with gorgeous views on Downtown Miami and Biscayne Bay. There are very few units for sale in this building and this could be due to the growing interest of residents and investors for Downtown Miami. There are currently only four condos for sale at Ten Museum Park ranging from a one bedroom apartment on the 8th floor ( $450,000 ) to a three-story 35th floor loft offering two bedrooms and two baths ( $ 1,900,000 ).
